May 8 - another day driving thru Poland, into Lithuania

We woke up early in Poland and had another huge spread of food for breakfast. I do not even know the  names of all the meats which were being offered.
                                                                   Guy was just in heaven!

And take a look at these pastries!

After breakfast, we started driving again. We had to get to Lithuania today.

We finally arrived at what was once a border control. There was no one checking people now, as it is part of the European Union, so the customs check has stopped.
This is a photo of the Polish side.

And this is the photo of the Lithuanian side.

We arrive in the afternoon to our apartment we booked into for 3 days. It was so nice to be able to stop and enjoy the scenery.

We went for a walk across the bridge to go see the boats and the old fishing warehouses (which have now been converted into hotels, restaurants and stores).

and then we saw some modern sculptures along our walk

We found a man selling some smoked mackerel on the dock and just had to buy some for dinner.

Then we decided we need to go purchase some groceries to go with our mackerel. And we sure found some really wonderful unusual foods we just had to have.

The evening has come to the end of the day.

We wound down with wine, beer and scotch. J-Me had cranberry juice.
Good night.

  1. Wow! with all that lovely food it's good that you are walking haha I bet it is delicious. I am so enjoying your posts and pictures ~ love the mermaid. It's so interesting to see the modern sculptures and art among such ancient architecture. Oh Guy, I remember you saying you will be collecting some sand for a friend along the beach ~ could I trouble you for some for me as well? I collect it and have some from other countries also. I would so appreciate it! If you can't I do understand, no pressure :) Big hugs and keep on having a blast!

    1. Hi Nancy, today we walk the beach both in Latvia and Lithuania. I will scoop some up for you. Jamie says she won't be stashing any amber we find in the sand. Not after last time when I threw it away.

And yes, thank goodness we are walking a lot… the food is so amazing!
