May 23 - the last day in Prague and airport saga.

Today is our last fun day to roam around Prague.
Woke up early to a lovely breakfast at our hotel. It was in the basement with walls like a cave.

We checked out of our hotel, stashing all our suitcases and overflow bags into the lobby suitcase room so we could walk around town and retrieve them later when we taxi to the airport hotel.

Hit the streets on our way to the Charles Bridge, stopping at some really cool shops like a puppet shop, and a kitchen gadget store.

About to walk the Charles Bridge.

The bridge was packed, but not as busy as a Saturday or Sunday would be. A man and woman where playing classical violin, a four piece jazz band which Mom loved and had her picture taken with them. We got her the CD so she could play the memories later on. Lots of artists, including a pair of young men with an original setup posing as monks.

We ate trdelnik, ice cream and snacks, drank beer, enjoyed the day

then arrived back at the hotel to retrieve our suitcases and ride out to the airport to check into our last hotel for the night and early departure in the morning. When we got to the room we discovered we were missing one suitcase! Called the downtown hotel we had just checked out of, and there it was, sitting in the lobby. A taxi was called and the errant suitcase was collected and brought to us.

We did a dry run to the terminal for Mom so she would be comfortable checking out in the morning and checking her suitcase and getting her boarding pass for her flight to South Africa in the morning, then a last dinner and repacking of suitcases and bed.

In Prague May 22.

Drove into Prague after checking out of the hotel in Jablonec and as we got closer to our hotel the roads got smaller and windier and more cobblestoned and more pedestrians who refused to move out of our way. Thank god the GPS worked!

We are driving right thru the crowds of people, right thru the center of the old town square, right under the famous clock tower!

Looking out our hotel room, over the rooftops!

Looking down to the street from out hotel room.

We dropped off our suitcases and Mom at the hotel, which said our room was ready to check into - 10:00am (amazing) and J-Me and I headed out to turn the car in to Avis at its downtown office. The route took us right through the old town square and directly under the clock tower. We were surrounded by tourists everywhere! We just hope we would find out way out.

After returning the car we walked back to the hotel through small winding streets lined with shops, getting lost several times. Jamie couldn't resist and 1 1/2 hours later and several packages later we made it back to the hotel to collect Mom and go sightseeing.

Walked the square, saw the clock, ate and drank lunch, people watched, then took a vintage car tour of Prague town and castle.

Sitting and about to have lunch across from the old clock tower….

And of course, Guy is enjoying a beer!

Some of the buildings in old town Prague.

A little Amber shop in old town Prague.

So here is a very strange site we saw….. first we thought we saw someone hanging by a rope from a rooftop…..

Then after looking closely, we saw it was a state of a man gripping a pole and hanging from a rooftop.

We decided to do something that we have always wanted to do, but never had done yet - ride around old town Prague in a old fashion car. What fun! Here are some of the sites we saw.

We went to hear a horn concert at one of the old Catholic Churches. The acoustics were fantastic!

And the huge crystal chandelier was just too beautiful for words.

We walked around a little more of the old town and saw many more buildings.  So many people were now out and about.

Dinner, people watched, strolled around a little bit more and watched the sun go down.

We had a very busy day and we were all very tired.
